David Rua is currently is senior researcher and x-Energy Management Systems area lead at INESC TEC where he participated in several national and international projects as well as consultancy projects. He is an experienced professional in leading teams of researchers in various projects, leading both national and international teams. He was appointed deputy responsible for the INESC TEC Power and Energy Cluster where he assists in establishing the research line strategies for cross-domain integration for scientific and innovation activities. He has a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy Systems from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto as part of the MIT-PT Program. He holds an Electric Engineering MSc degree at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) from the Technical University of Lisbon in the area of wireless sensor networks and had his undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering were carried out at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto specializing in telecommunications. His research interests include energy modelling, optimization and computational algorithms, decision support, and communications systems for energy systems.
