I am a Cardiologist with interest in Cardiovascular Imaging & Machine Learning. I graduated in Medicine from the University of Porto (Portugal) in 2007 and specialized in Cardiology in 2015, following the Core Curriculum of the European Society of Cardiology. In 2017, I received a doctoral degree in Cardiovascular Medicine from the University of Porto, where I was supported with a four-year doctoral grant by the Portuguese Foundation-for-Science-and-Technology (FCT) and Portuguese Society of Cardiology to investigate the association of epicardial adipose tissue proteomic and computed tomography phenotype with coronary artery disease and myocardial remodelling after aortic valve replacement. It was a start of a research career that would see me move between different academic institutions, including the University of Oxford and the Harvard Medical School, where I had the opportunity of exploring how radiomics can lead to the discovery of new biomarkers of coronary artery inflammation and myocardial fibrosis. In 2020, I had a one-year training in congenital heart diseases and Intensive Care Medicine at Bart’s Heart Centre (London). From January to July 2021, I was a Fellow in Critical Care & Perioperative Echocardiography at Royal Brompton Hospital. Since September 2021, I have been working as Stress Echocardiography Fellow at St Georges University Hospital. I am currently working as a Senior Clinical and Research Fellow in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging at the Guys and St. Thomas NHS Trust Foundation & Kings College of London.
