Inês Leal completed her Integrated Master’s Degree in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, in 2011 and her PhD in Medicine at the same institution in 2023. She has complemented her education with several international training courses, including the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ethics at Imperial College London and the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Scholar Research Training (CSRT I and II) from Harvard Medical School. Additionally, she completed a Postgraduate Degree in Health Management (graduating best in class) at Nova School of Business and Economics in 2021. Since 2023, she has been attending the Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Course by the Pan-American Society of Ophthalmology. She is currently an Ophthalmology Consultant (Head of Uveitis Clinics) at Unidade Local de Saúde Santa Maria and an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon. She is a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO) and serves as a Board Member of both the Portuguese Society of Ophthalmology and the Retina Study Group. She completed an Ocular Inflammation/Uveitis reserach fellowship at Bristol Eye Hospital and was a Senior Fellow at the Manchester Uveitis Clinic, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester Foundation Trust, NHS, UK (2017–2018), where she was distinguished with the certificate for outstanding service contributions in NHS.
