He graduated in geotechnics (M.Sc.) in 2002 and certificated as B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in 1999. He attends a Ph.D. in geotechnics at the University of Porto since 2019. From 2002 to 2004, he was the chief of the technical office in the Iranian army. The project was building a new town with around 3000 residential apartments in 3 and 4 stories. From 2004 to 2019, he has full-time cooperation with a geotechnical consultant company. After 14 years of experience in the study, design, and technical supervision of embankment dams and their sub-projects, he quit the job while he was the head of the geotechnical division of the company. In 2020, a national manual entitled "Design Manual of Embankment and Rockfill Dams" published for the first time, thanks to his active role as an author and technical reviewer. His second paper on the application of fuzzy numbers in rock mechanics published in 2021, following his M.Sc. thesis and a conference paper in 2002. In addition to his recent studies on soil dynamic, liquefaction, SPT-CPT correlation, instrumentation, numerical modeling, rock mechanics, and risk analysis in geotechnics, these are the keywords of careers that he have a practical skill, in addition of academic certificates: Geotechnics - Dams - Instrumentation - Grout curtain - Slope stability - Retaining structures - Shallow and deep foundations- Rock mechanics - Soil mechanics

  1. Technical reports (Regular, numerious reports produced by consulting company for various clients). As a mandatory part of geotechnical consultancy, we were asked to prepare technical reports, sometimes bilingual to be used by our international supervisors from France, Beljium or China. These reports was evaluated by client juries at different stages, followed by meeting to answer their questions. As a routine, publishing the data in scientific articles was forbiden.. 2017. 1. National Design Manual of Embankment and Rock fill Dams. A document collected based on the experiences of our company in the study, design, technical supervision of construction and monitoring of the dams. Previous designs were mainly based on USBR or US army manuals; our text borrowed valuable parts from the last version of them but localized regarding the national factors and consequences of the exact/modified application of these manuals.. 2020. Activities

Consulting

Activity description Institution / Organization
2004 - 2019 Instrumentation: --- Tunnels and Large dams are instrumented from early stages of construction phazes. Collected data are analysied weekly (during construction) and annually (in operation life). I was in charge of evaluation of the condition of one tunnel (at one stage) and 6 embankment dams, 45 ~ 101 meter height, based on the records from stand pipes, piezoelectrics in soil and bed rock, accelerograms, survey points, inclinometers, V notch, etc. My suggestion of uniform digital data sheets made monitoring more efficient. Zayandab Consulting Eng. Co., Iran
2004 - 2019 Dam studies: --- Detection of suitable locations for building a dam with the cooperation of hydro/geologists. Design the field investigation program, in situ and laboratory tests, and technical supervision over all the procedures, simultanious with interpretation of the results. preliminary design of the embankment dam body with different alternatives to compare with other types. Borrow resource studies. I changed a tall RCC dam to a masonry one, based on available material and technology, it successfully works now. Zayandab Consulting Eng. Co., Iran
2004 - 2019 Technical reports and maps: --- Preparing mid Phase and final technical reports mostly based on Eurocodes were mandatory. Different teams of juries at different stages controlled the activities and design based on our reports. At the final stages of the studies, maps for construction were prepared. In Beheshtabad dam project we had cooperation with companies from France, Belgium and china, so in these projects the reports was prepared in English and evaluated by foreign companies. Zayandab Consulting Eng. Co., Iran
2002 - 2019 Concrete buildings:--- Technical supervision on the construction process as well as designing of the structure and foundation based on national codes which have a similar structure as Eurocodes. I was working for the government. The project was building a new residential town up to 3000 individual 3~4 story apartment (2002~2004). After 2004, I continued the activity as part time job, which was officially allowed beside my full time consultancy activities. Construction Engineering Organization, Iran
2011 - 2017 Grouting: --- Watertight grouting in large dams is followed by test grouting studies. I have good experience of participation in the design and supervision of test grouting in limestone. My proposed arrangement of boreholes saved drilling costs as well as time, comparing to regular arrangements. Using Seep-w, I studied the efficiency of grout curtain for different alignments and depths, for a 185 meter height double arch dam. Zayandab Consulting Eng. Co., Iran
2008 - 2009 Landslide studies:--- Impounding the new dams causes a vast region to become saturated. Induced earthquakes are most probable at the same time so, landslide becomes very severe. Usual methods of landslide investigation do not work well in this case because no evidence exists of the performance of new factors, especially deep saturation and buoyance of all the slopes. I proposed innovation method to consider the effects of this un-experienced factor. Using CIVIL-3D, the hazard map prepared all along the reservoir. Zayandab Consulting Eng. Co., Iran
