My research is focused on the evolutionary ecology of island biota and plant-animal interactions on islands. I was a lecture at the University of La laguna from 1988 to 2004, and since 2004, I am a tenured researcher in the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). I've supervised 12 PhD thesis, 13 master degrees and participated in more than 40 research projects (PI in 22 projects). I've co-authored 290 publications, c.70% of which in ISI Journals. I was the Director of the Research Institute IPNA-CSIC (2016-2020) and currently a Delegate of the CSIC in the Canary Islands.
