João Tojeira is an accomplished academic and cultural professional with a diverse background in music, cultural management, and education. Currently serving as an invited assistant at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and a scientific collaborator at the Center for English Studies of the University of Lisbon, João also leads Culturalia®, a project specializing in web development, event production support, and cultural management. Notably, he works with AVA Musical Editions, Portugal's premier sheet music publisher. Beyond his academic roles, João is deeply involved in cultural associations. He serves as president of the board for Culturlab - Cultural and Technological Association and is a board member of Tocándar Association, which promotes healthy youth lifestyles through traditional Portuguese music. João is currently pursuing a PhD in Cultural Studies at the University of Lisbon. His doctoral research focuses on cultural management in diplomatic contexts, building on his Master's thesis on cultural management at Camões, I.P. in Spain. Prior to his PhD, João earned a Master's degree in Musical Heritage with honours in Spain. During this time, he completed a highly-rated internship at the Opera Foundation of Oviedo, developing strategies to engage young audiences and supporting production activities. João's academic journey also includes significant contributions during his undergraduate studies at NOVA University of Lisbon, where he conducted research on the Portuguese sound landscape of the 1960s/70s and participated in the creation of the "José Mário Branco Archive." Furthermore, João has presented his research at international conferences and actively engaged in community projects, demonstrating a commitment to bridging academia with practical cultural initiatives.
