FJGR is currently an assistant professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Since 2010, he has developed his scientific work at the Transport Phenomena Research Center, a research unit belonging to the Associated Laboratory ALiCE of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Currently, FJGR accounts for a total of 48 scientific works included in Scopus (h-index=19), as well as more than 100 communications to international conferences. Exclusively during the last 5 years, FJGR has already shown proofs of research independence. He has attracted funds as PI (~1.37Meuro) through 1 FCT postdoctoral fellowship (SFRH/BPD/69663/2010 [~63keuro]), 1 FCT Investigator starting grant (IF/00190/2013 [260keuro]) and 1 FCT Principal Investigator grant (2020.03203.CEECIND [~305keuro]); and 6 Projects as IP: 3 FCT projects (IF/00190/2013/CP1160/CT0003 [50keuro], MIT-EXPL/IRA/0077/2017 [~83keuro], PTDC/EME-APL/30765/201 [239,9keuro]; 1 COMPETE2020 through AVISO 17/SI/2015, with ref. nº 026968 [50keuro]; 1 University of Porto through BIP PROOF Programme, ref. Rheinforce [20keuro]; 1 industrial project funded by Ultimaker B.V. [198,5keuro]). Since 2015, FJGR has been growing his experience in teaching, supervising students (8 MSc students, and 5 PhD students) and researchers (8 MSc and 2 Postdoc researchers). His research work has been recognized internationally (included in the 2021 list of the world’s top 2% of the most-cited scientists), as he has hosted scientific visitors since 2015 (5 PhD visitors, 2 postdoc and 4 visiting professors) and accumulated a good track of invited presentations (e.g. keynote speaker in the AERC2019 and invited seminars in reputed institutions such as MIT). Regarding the organization of scientific meetings, FJGR has chaired the Iberian Meeting on Rheology (Porto, 2019), co-organized a symposium in the Annual European Rheology Conference (Portoroz, 2019; Cyberspace, 2021; Sevilla 2022) and the International Conference on Rheology (Rio de Janeiro, 2020; Greece, 2023), and participated as a member of the Organizing Committee of the Cork in Science and Application conference, held in Aveiro, Portugal in 2017; additionally, FJGR is the organizer of the International Summer School in Complex Fluid-Flows in Microfluidics since 2017 and co-organized of the workshop series on 'All kids are born scientists', a series of workshops to introduce pre-school and primary school students to experimental Fluid Mechanics (2019/20, 2020/21). In terms of transference of knowledge, he developed prototypes (4), submitted international patent applications (2 granted and 7 pending), consulting and developing products for national and international companies (Graphenest S.A., Hovione Farmaciencia SA, SAS Formulaction, mBrainTrain LTD and Ultimaker BV) and co-founding a Spin-Off company. Since 2014, FJGR yearly participates in evaluating project proposal for different research organizations/calls, such as H2020-MSCA-IF, H2020-MSCA-ITN, The Research Council of the Sultanate of Oman, Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva (ANEP), Spain. He has been a member of the COST ACTION FP1305 'Flowing Matter' (2014-17), National delegate of the COST ACTION FP1405 'Active and intelligent (fibre-based) packaging' (2015-18) and member of the Portuguese Society of Rheology since 2017.
