Ana Branco has been able to develop a broad range of projects that investigate the plasticity of tissues to several insults, as a result of her great interest in approaches for regenerative medicine. For these achievements, her PhD in Biosciences (from the University of Coimbra, 2013) was at most importance specially her international stays as PhD trainee at CNIC (Madrid) to acquire knowledge on cellular differentiation, at the Nencki Institute (Poland) acquiring skills in cellular metabolism and at the University of Duluth-Minnesota (USA) learning a wide range of cutting-edge techniques. After acquiring a solid knowledge of the heart model, she decided to pursue a post-doc at the Montreal Heart Institute, Canada (both a Center for Cardiovascular Investigation and a Hospital) where she gained a new perspective on translational investigation. In January 2018, she moved to the Biomaterials & Stem Cell-based Therapeutics Laboratory, CNC, Portugal to work on specific research questions that ultimately promote tissue regeneration and in July 2019 she was hired as a junior investigator at the Biology of Reproduction and Stem Cell Group where she works on ways for bioengineering stem cell fate. In 2019 she was awarded an individual CEEC (FCT funding) to work on the development of a multicellular aged tissue-engineered construct from pluripotent stem cells. Total Publication: 21 peer-reviewed articles and 3 book chapters; Total Citations: 871, h-Index: 14 from Web of Science (and Scopus) metrics calculated in February 2024; more than 45 communications in international scientific meetings (18 oral communications), from 4 she secured travel grants and 1 poster award, collaborated in the organization of 4 international scientific meetings (from the European Society for Clinical Investigation) held in Portugal, supervised 4 Master students, 7 Lab Rotations, 1 PhD candidate, and is a Review Editor of Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology (IF 6.68).
