Marlene Pinheiro finished her Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Laboratory Sciences at the University Institute of Health Sicences (IUCS-CESPU) in 2015 and in 2018 finished her Master’s degree in Environmental Contamination and Toxicology from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar of the University of Porto and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (ICBAS-UP/FCUP-UP). In 2024 Marlene finished her PhD in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto with a dissertation entitled "Hazard assessment of deep-sea mining related stressors". Marlene Pinheiro has published 12 research articles in international peer reviewed journals (Q1), 4 as first author. Marlene has attended several international conferences to present her research and has reviewed articles for multiple SCOPUS indexed journals. Her main interest is the study of the deep sea. Currently she is studying of the effects of deep-sea mining related stressors, such as sediment plumes and mineral ore.
