Liliana Truta obtained her PhD degree in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology in the University of Aveiro, in 2019. Under this scope, she combines nanomaterials and molecular imprinting technology to develop new sensing platforms targeting emerging cancer biomarkers. In addition, for a sustainable point-of-care(POC) use, photovoltaic cells and plasmonic NPs were introduced as an electrical source of the electrochemical biosensor. This work was developed in BioMark, Sensor Research/CEB/ISEP (Porto) under the supervision of Professor Goreti Sales and, also, in CICECO/UA (Aveiro) under the supervision of Professor Tito Trindade, coordinator of nanoLAB@UA, a pioneer laboratory in Portugal dedicated to Nanochemistry. She was involved in CANCER project "Advancing cancer research: from basic knowledgment to application", funded by NORTE 2020, in collaboration with IPATIMUP, in which the scientific activities consisted in to production of an eco-friendly and inexpensive paper-based sensor for a cancer biomarker detection in POC. Afterwards, she was a post-doc researcher of BIO4DIA project "Early detection and monitoring of metabolic progression of type 2 diabetes", funded by FEDER and FCT, which project aimed to implement an analytical methodology, as HPLC-DAD, for diabetes biomarkers detection, in serum samples of diabetic and healthy patients. Currently, she is a researcher of Energy and Surface Engineering/Smart Materials in CeNTI - Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials. Along these years, she has published 15 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, and she has presented her scientific research work in international scientific meetings, specifically, 4 oral communications and 3 poster presentations. In parallel, she has supervised 3 master students from biomedical and engineering fields and a biomedical engineering degree student. Additionally, in 2018 she did a course in Electrochemistry, in Bath University, in order to consolidate her skills in this field.
