I received my BD in Physics (2012) and MSc in Material´s Science and Technology (2013) at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). My PhD in Materials Science (2019) was developed at the Colloids and Polymers Physics Group (GFCP) of USC under the supervision of Prof. Pablo Taboada and Silvia Barbosa, being my PhD dissertation awarded with the summa cum laude honour and the European doctorate distinction. As part of my PhD, I performed a three-month stay in the AG Biophotonics Group of the University of Marburg (Germany) under the supervision of Prof. Wolfgang J. Parak. During my doctoral step, I was awarded with a competitive four-year FPU fellowship, also receiving a competitive FPU-stay fellowship for my internship in Germany, both of them funded by Spanish Government. My MSc and PhD works were focused on the design of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) with a wide range of physicochemical properties in order to optimize their potential use as theranostic agents. In a different area, the use of the prepared MNPs for wastewater treatment purposes was also evaluated. Novel results in terms of the ideal composition of iron oxide-based MNPs for their application as magnetothermal tools and contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging or the biomedical performance of ferrimagnetic cubic-shaped MNPs were obtained. After a short post-doctoral stay in the GFCP, I obtained a postdoctoral fellowship under the scope of the ERC-Consolidator Grant “MagTendon” to work in the 3B´s Research Group of the University of Minho (Portugal). In October 2019, I was awarded with a competitive postdoctoral fellowship from Xunta de Galicia (Spain) to continue my work in this place. This new position gave me the opportunity to bring my expertise on the design of magnetic materials to the field of tissue engineering. Currently, my research interest covers the development of magnetic cell-laden hydrogel bioinks for the 3D bioprinting of anisotropic tendon-mimetic structures. The work performed during my scientific career led to the publication of 18 research/review papers in prestigious journals included in JCR, with one more already accepted for publication (13 articles in Q1 and 5 articles in Q2 journals; 6 articles as first author and 2 as second author, being corresponding author in 3). I have also collaborated in the writing process of a book chapter, having an h-index of 9, with 211 citations to my works (source: Google Scholar). I have presented more than 30 contributions to national and international conferences, including a total of 9 oral presentations (with 1 invited talk). I have participated in the achievement of 6 competitive projects obtained in national and regional calls, as well as in a contract with Vasque Country University. Moreover, I was hired and I am currently working in the scope of an ERC Consolidator Grant at the University of Minho, being also in collaboration with other projects funded by the FCT. During my PhD and my postdoc, I collaborated in the supervision of 2 Bachelor Thesis and 1 Master Thesis. I have 120 hours of teaching experience in Spain and I have taught 3 classes as invited professor at the University of Minho. I am currently responsible of different laboratory equipments and teaching its use to newer researchers, and I am reviewer in two journals included in Q1 quartile by JCI in their respective categories. I was part of the organizing committee of the 3 conferences associated with the Achilles Project (European Union´s Horizon 2020 Programme) and I am member of different scientific societies. Moreover, I have established collaborations with many international research groups within I have several joint publications (International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (Portugal), Physiology Department (University of Guadalajara, Mexico), Department of Physics and Astronomy (King Saud University, Saudi Arabia) or Center of Hybrid Nanostructures (University of Hamburg, Germany)).
