Curriculum Vitae
Catarina Bernardo
Catarina Bernardo completed her MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Egas Moniz Higher Institute of Health Science in 2019. Her
MSc project was "SMART indicators in the prescription of antipsychotics in the elderly: a cardiovascular perspective", focusing
mainly on understanding antipsychotics national consumption trends and gathering indicators (e.g. medication-related, disease-related,
patient-related), which could guide antipsychotics' prescription and therefore avoid cardiovascular adverse events. In this
project, she presented her work at national and international conferences, resulting in 3 published abstracts in international
journals. Now she is attending the doctoral program in Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, as a student.
Her main research is on medication adherence in cancer and the identification of technology (eg digital or pharmaceutical)
solutions in this field. Her project entitled "The use of co-creation to overcome medication adherence barriers experienced
by women with breast cancer according to the treatment phase" intends to connect technology to the new concept of co-creation
to overcome possible barriers found in medication adherence in this field. Patients and healthcare perspectives can be combined
to optimize the development of solutions and fill the gaps.
She is also working as a pharmacist at the Portuguese Pediatric Oncology Registry where she analyses cancer records and collected
patients, tumors and treatment variables into a specific database. Registry analysis enables annual information on cancer
incidence distributed by geographic region, age and sex. Multiple studies are conducted in this center.
