My academic CV consists mainly on three topics: Critical discourse, Crisis, and currently Uncertainty. I obtained my First Degree in Philosopy in 1996 and Critical discourse was the topic of my 2004 PhD in History of Ideas (Leone 2005); Crisis was a related topic to critical discourse, which I worked on in several works ranging from before the PhD to more recent times (v.g. Leone 2000 and Leone 2016). Uncertainty is a longstanding interest (since the late 1990's, v.g. Leone 2001) which the current pandemic allowed for a more systematic treatment, first in Leone 2020 and now ongoing in several projects (see Productions and Activitiesin this CV). My teaching assignments are mostly unrelated to these topics and have remained disperse. Also, I conducted post-doctoral research about Portuguese intelectuals in exile in the 20th century. Extra-academic CV is also a relevant issue, as I have experience in translation, journalism, publishing of literary journals (Prelo) and since 2011 I am political analyst of the UAE embassy in Lisbon. It was during this last decade that my record of publications, teaching and other academic activities decreased sharply. However, it was through that professional occupation that I developed previous political work experience I had and kept up with Public Policy procedures. The issue of risk management (and its connection with Uncertainty as a distinct concept) was never out of my field of work and when I was invited in early 2020 to enter a conference in Minho University on Crisis (later cancelled because of the pandemic) I could extend my contribution to a book-lenght essay focusing the growing relevance of Uncertainty assessments in contemporary technological societies (Leone 2020, to be published in English in 2021). NB - This CV does not include a significant number of publications, especially between 2000 and 2010. Those were considered non-pertinent to the current applications I have ongoing. The same applies for a smaller number of other activities (v.g. as discussant in Masters).
