Isa Brito Félix, PhD is an assistant professor at Egas Moniz School of Health and Science, Monte Caparica, Portugal. Isa's research interests lie on the application of behaviour science to the development of digital and face-to-face interventions targeting health behaviours for the management of chronic diseases. She pursues these interests drawing on her clinical experience, behaviour change competencies (e.g., intervention design), and on a strong passion for developing solutions to help people. She has experience in conducting research on chronic disease prevention, both primary and secondary, in interdisciplinary teams, collaborating with e.g., informatics, psychology, sport science, pharmacy and nutrition. Examples include the publicly funded VASelfCare project (vaselfcare.esel.pt), which developed a digital behaviour change intervention for older adults with type 2 diabetes, and more recently, the VAPrevention project. The latter aims at developing an innovative digital intervention for the prevention of type 2 diabetes in high-risk adults. It involves a virtual coach and its evaluation in a real-world context, focusing on effectiveness, implementation, and cost-effectiveness (https://www.vaprevention.org). As part of Train4Health (2019-2022), funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union (https://www.train4health.eu), Isa actively contributed to the development of a training program for undergraduate students in health and other professions. This program addresses both behaviour change and communication competencies. In the VASelfCare, VAPREVENTION and Train4Health projects, Isa gained experience in engaging stakeholders in different phases of intervention development, through e.g., focus groups for co-production of the training program and implementation of communication plans using digital and non-digital tools plus co-creation with users. As project manager of Train4Health, Isa demonstrated excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to autonomously manage a large team across 7 consortium partners, in periodical liaison with the project coordinator. These skills were also instrumental to supervise almost 50 research internships at an undergraduate and doctoral level. Her research productivity is evidenced by more than 30 scientific articles, book chapters, conference presentations and workshops. She co-edited the book - A practical guide on behaviour change support for self-managing chronic disease (Springer) - and was the topic coordinator of the research topic Digital Approaches in the Nutritional Prevention and Management of Chronic Diseases (Frontiers in Nutrition).
