Filipe Ferreira da Costa completed the Degree in Biology in 2017 (Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Algarve). He then completed the Master in Ecology (Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra) in 2019, with the dissertation entitled: "Mercury accumulation in fish species along the Portuguese coast: are there potential risks to human health?" with a grade of 19 out of 20. The main research focus throughout his career has been in the area(s) of Natural sciences with emphasis on Marine Biology, fish and seafood contaminantion and Human safety. Several collaborations within the Marine Research Lab of the Centre for Functional Ecology during his master thesis resulted in a manuscript as corresponding author that is under revision in Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, and one manuscript published as first author in Marine Pollution Bulletin. In the year 2019/2020 worked as a research fellowI at the University of Aveiro, in the project "ReMoliço - Rehabilitation of contaminated areas of the Ria de Aveiro through recolonization with moliço" from 2019 to 2020 (MAR-16-01-04-FMP-0019). at the momment he is currently performing a PhD program at the University of Coimbra with a FCT grant.
