Klára Slezáková obtained her PhD. degree in 2009 in "Engineering Science" at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal. She currently works as a contracted researcher at Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy (LEPABE). Her work aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of air pollution. Klaras's primary research focus lies in the assessment of air pollution and its impact on environmental and public health, with a particular emphasis on health-hazardous pollutants and particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5, TSP). Between 2010-2017 she also held (through competitive funding) Post-Doctoral Researcher positions REQUIMTE-LAQV (Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, Polytechnic Institute of Porto). Her work was focused on the assessment & sampling protocols development in occupational exposures, which she continues up to this date. At LEPABE, her research line was broadened to ultrafine particles and novelty exposure assessment methods (biomonitoring assays), both from the environmental and public health perspective. One part of her work is given to air pollution impacts in a daily healthy lifestyle. Klára has authored and co-authored 69 peer-reviewed publications (Scopus: H=26; citations¿1700). Her work constantly attracts highly ranked scientific journals (82% in Q1, 78% in journals ranking as TOP 10 in their areas of specificity) and received five awards. She has long-term established collaborations with relevant research centers/institutes in Portugal (INSA/ISPUP, REQUIMTE-LAQV, FPUL) and abroad (QUT Brisbane-Australia, IRCCS San Raffaele-IT, Charles University-CZ, VSCH-CZ, UT Warsaw-PL, UT Gliwice-PL). Her professional focus is now solely given to EDC(MIND)2 project, which addresses (co)exposures to endocrine disruptors with emphasis on adverse impacts on neurodevelopment and behaviour in child populations living in urban areas.
