Obtained PhD in Biomedicine in 2013 by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto. Obtained a MSc in Oncobiology in 2005 by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto and a BSc in Biochemistry by the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. Is currently an Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator at the at the Faculty of Medicine and i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde, University of Porto. He has published 24 papers in international, peer-reviewed journals and 2 book chapters. He has organized two international workshops. He has supervised a total of 13 persons between post-docs, PhD students MSc students and Bsc students. He has secured competitive funding in five projects as a PI, and has participated as researcher in five projects. Currently, his area of expertise is related to Health Sciences and Biological Sciences, with a focus on mechanobiology, cell division, cytoskeleton organization, cell nucleus and cellular shape. He has collaborated extensively with leading experts in his field of research.
