Carlos Silva is the project coordinator of Wikimedia Portugal. Formerly, he was a guest Assistant Professor and researcher at the Centre of Linguistics (University of Porto, Portugal) and at the Laboratory of Language Evolution (University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland). He concluded his Ph.D. in the field of the phonology of Portuguese-based creoles. His research interests include phonological typology, language change, and computational phonology. He taught Phonology (MA), Romance Linguistics, Varieties of Portuguese, and Techniques of Oral and Written Communication (BA) at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. He has created and maintains three lexical and phonological databases: Creophon, PtLanka, and GuineLex.
