I am a PhD student in Education Sciences at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP), with a grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (DFA/BD/7312/2020). I am affiliated with the Epidemiology Research Unit (EPIUnit) of the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP), the Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ITR), and the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE), FPCEUP. In 2018, I finished a Master's in Health Education at the Faculty of Medicine and FPCEUP. I have a BSc in Education Sciences, since 2016, from FPCEUP. I was a research fellow in the projects "CARESS - Psychosocial health of carers of stroke survivors: Experiences, needs, and quality of life" (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-031898) and “ENGAgED - Bionetworking and citizENship on GAmetE Donation” (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016762). Currently, I am a member of the Social Adversity and Health Inequalities laboratory (Syndemics, health inequalities, and vulnerable populations research line) of the ITR, and of the “Participation, Communities and Political Education" research and advanced training group of the CIIE. Using a comprehensive approach and mixed methods designs the research interests focus on health education, citizenship, and adaptation to chronic diseases, aiming to promote social and educational changes with an impact on health promotion, human rights, and inclusive citizenship. My research privileges the involvement of groups in social and/or health vulnerable situations (i.e., children with cancer, gamete donors and recipients, stroke survivors, and informal caregivers). The main publications reinforced the importance of health literacy and communication, people-centered care and services, and the deep understanding and consideration of experiences and knowledge, to promote inclusion, equity, and empowerment of communities. In the last years, my research interests also focused on the co-production of health, citizen science, ethics, and pedagogical innovation and diversity in higher education. I published articles in peer-reviewed journals and have presented oral communications and posters at national and international conferences.
