Valentina explores art making as a form of study and study as a form of making art. She holds a PhD in Race, Gender, Sexuality and Social Justice from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (2023). She is an artist, researcher and community organizer working internationally across the fields of contemporary art, dance, performance studies, community organizing and social justice. She first trained in contemporary dance and obtained a BA in Dance-Theatre from the Laban Centre in London (2003-2006). Since 2007 she has worked as a dancer and performer across Europe, while contributing to the organization of Performing Arts Forum (PAF), an artist-run space in the north of France. In 2011 she created the performative healing practice "Fake Therapy" which widely circulates as creative commons and the conversational practice of "Political Therapy", which she continues to perform. Since her practice and research is fundamentally social and collaborative, she has worked with many. Since 2013 she collaborates with Stefano Harney with whom she co-authored two texts, and with Denise Ferreira da Silva, with whom she developed the practice of "Poethical Readings" (2015) and the project "The Sensing Salon" (2016), and lately "Reading With Echo" (2023), all still ongoing. She maintains lasting conversation and collaborations with researcher and artist Paula Caspão (PT) since their first collaboration in 2007, with artist Daniela Bershan (DE) since 2014, with artist and choreographer Myriam Lefkowitz (FR) and with artist and curator Amilcar Packer (BR) since 2016, and with artist Corazon del Sol (US), since 2017, and many more. She continues to co-organize Performing Arts Forum in France and the online platform www.ehcho.org.
