Bruno Alexandre Pereira completed the degree in Chemical Engineering from the Barreiro School of Technology of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, Barreiro (Portugal) and a master's in Biotechnology from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT-UNL). During his last year of master's was integrated in 1 European project under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme. NoAW (https://noaw2020.eu/), where was responsible for the operation of a lab-scale bioreactor using a photosynthetic mixed culture enriched in purple bacteria for wastewater treatment and the production of a biobased plastic, polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA). Currently, is a research assistant at the Biochemical Engineering(BIOENG) group, at FCT NOVA. His research is mainly in the areas of Engineering, Technology, and Production. Namely, in the operation of pilot-scale bioreactors for PHA production using mixed microbial cultures in PHA production at pilot-scale. He participates as a research fellow in 2 European projects under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme. ResUrbis (https://www.resurbis.eu/) that ended in 2019 focus on the conversion of several types of urban bio-wastes into valuable bio-based products and Glopack (https://glopack2020.eu/) that will end on May 2021, that targets organic residues valorisation through bioplastics production. In the last 3 years, his research work was disseminated through 4 conference abstracts with oral presentation, 2 conference papers and 4 conference posters.
