Gil Manuel Magalhães de Andrade Gonçalves (published as Gil M. Gonçalves) has a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (1993) and a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (1996) from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). He completed his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (2015) with a thesis on analysing, specifying and implementing complex systems with adaptive capabilities. Gil has been with the FEUP since 1993, first as a research fellow and then as an assistant between 1998 and 2015. In 2015, he became Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics Engineering (DEI), and in 2025 Associate Professor. Gil has been developing his scientific and teaching career in software and systems engineering, control architectures, software modelling, and design for complex systems. Scientific Manager at Agilus I+D - Instituto Agilus de Inovação em Tecnologias de Informação, from 2005 to 2009. Between 2011 and 2019, he was the scientific coordinator and administrator at INOVA+ - Serviços de Consultoria de Inovação. Researcher in 60 national and European projects, principal investigator in 43. Supervisor of 12 PhD students and author of 150 scientific publications. Head of the Digital and Intelligent Industry laboratory, where he coordinates a team of 19 members. He is an ACM member, IEEE Senior Member and IARIA Fellow. In 2022, he received the Diploma of Scientific Recognition awarded by FEUP to its teachers and researchers. FEUP's Pro-Dean for Internationalization since June 2023. DEI's member of the department Council (since 2019) and member of the Executive Committee (between February 2023 and June 2023). Member of the scientific committee of the Master's Degree in Services Engineering and Management since August 2019, having been a member of the Doctoral Program in Informatics Engineering scientific committee between 2019 and 2023.
