Cátia Correia was born in 1990 in Vila Real de Santo António. Her academic journey started in 2008 at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, with a graduation in Biochemistry, with a final grade of 14/20. During her degree, she participated in the Erasmus Program, where she had the opportunity to study for 6 months at Università degli Studi di Verona. During her degree journey, she also enrolled in the project BII_CQFB_2009-2010- “Phosphorus compounds with potential biological activity” as a researcher trainee. After her degree’s final project, entitled “Development of a disposable electrochemical biosensor for nitrite quantification,” under the supervision of Prof. M. Gabriela Almeida, she had the opportunity to keep working on the CQFB-REQUIMTE for more than 6 months as a researcher train-ee. In 2012, she enrolled in a Master's degree course in Neuroscience at Lisbon School of Medicine with a final degree of 17/20. Her master’s thesis was developed at the neuropathology laboratory of Hospital Santa Maria under the supervision of Prof. Dr. José Pimentel with a project entitled” Quanti-ficação celular em meningiomas”. In 2015-2016 she integrated the project “NanoCoatIL - High performance nanostructured coat-ings using ionic liquids based on choline chloride” as researcher in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at University of Porto. In 2017-2018 she integrated the project “Cryocube” from Portugal 2020, as a researcher. Cátia Correia joined the 3B’s Research Group in 2019 to work on the project “Seaglue4GI- Multifunctional marine­inspired bioadhesives as medical devices for gastrointestinal anastomosis re-pair” under the supervision of Prof. Natália M. Alves. Since January 2020, Cátia has been conducting her Ph.D. in 3B’s, supported by FCT individual scholarship under the supervision of Prof. Natália M. Alves and Dr. Iva Pashkuleva. Her PhD focuses on studying and developing bioadhesive materials for soft tissue healing, especially for neuronal repair. During this time, she had the opportunity to work for 6 months at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in Malaysia under the scope of a Shift Project funded by the European Union under the MSCA-RISE instrument. Published 9 articles in journals. Has 1 section(s) of books. Participated in 10 event(s). Has received 5 awards and/or honors.
