Raquel Pinto graduated in Biology in 2018, by the Biology Department of the University of Aveiro. During her graduation in Biology, she performed a curricular internship in MARE (Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre) of University of Coimbra studying diatom size variations at global and regional spatial scales. She took her Master's degree in Water Quality Biology and Management at Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto. Her dissertation, developed in the METOX research group of CIIMAR (Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research), was focused on the use of Raman spectroscopy applied to diatoms as an alternative methodology for environmental diagnosis and taxonomic identification. This work, obtained the maximum classification and originated three scientific publications. Currently, Raquel Pinto is a Biology PhD student at Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto and she is working on a project entitled "Ecosystem assessment and monitoring using diatom Raman spectroscopy".
