Ana Rufino (AR) graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra in 2008. She completed her PhD degree in Pharmacy: Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy in 2015. Between 2014 and 2018, she was teacher of several classes in the 1st cycle of Studies in Nursing of the Escola Superior de Saúde Norte da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa, as an invited teacher. Between 2019 and 2023 she was a contracted researcher in LAQV-REQUIMTE at University of Porto. Since, february 2023 she is Senior Researcher at Metatissue, a biotechology company aiming for design, development and validation of biomaterials for 3D cell culture and tissue engeeniring, being responsible for the R&D and D&V processes. Globally, AR co-authored 23 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, most of them with high impact (Q1 and Q2) in the in scientific areas of Drug discovery, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Molecular biology, Biochemistry and Medicinal chemistry, with 719 citations and 11-h index, being the first author of 8 of them. Ana Rufino also published in other relevant areas as Complementary and alternative medicine, Chemistry and Agricultural and Biological Science. She presented 12 oral communications (6 in international meetings) and 22 research poster communications, in national and international conferences. The abstracts of 5 of those communications were published in international peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, AR carries out educational activities through invited lectures at graduation courses. In the last years AR has participated in several high impact financed projects, as a PhD student (PTDC/SAU-OSM/67936/2006) and and as executive researcher. In 2021 AR had a FCT financed exploratory project as principal investigator in the area of obesity treatment (EXPL/MED-QUI/0815/2021 49.908,98) and is currently enrolled as a posdoc researcher in European commission funded projects. Moreover, AR also enjoys international recognition evidenced by being peer-reviewer for 14 journals with more than 20 verified reviews in the last 3 years and as a invited editor from a issue of Pharmaceutics. AR was responsible for the supervision of students in the areas of drug discovery : 1 MSc student and 2 pre-graduated students and tutors 1 PhD student. AR also completed the supervision of 1 academic internship, 4 Masters curricular internships and 11 pre-graduate extracurricular internships and the co-supervision of 1 MSc. Her scientific recognition in the Academia also begins to be proven by the invitation to be member of 1 master and 3 graduation juries, all in viva voce oral exam. Moreover, during her research experience AR identified and characterized a new anti-osteoarthritic drug that subsequently underwent pre-clinical development through a partnership with the pharmaceutical company, Bluepharma S.A, in which she participated in designing and development of the research plan. This contributed to her comprehension of the translational knowledge between academia and industry. Finally, AR acquired a strong background and autonomy in cellular and molecular biology and in molecular pharmacology, both at theoretical and experimental levels.
