Andreia Sofia Santana dos Santos obtained her Master degree in December 2014 in Biomedical Engineering at Universidade de Lisboa, Instituto Superior Técnico. In 2015, she started her PhD from the MIT Portugal Program, which was concluded in February 2021. Her PhD thesis, entitled ¿Development of Multifunctional E-skin Sensors¿, was developed at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Centro de Investigação em Materiais (CENIMAT). The aim of the thesis was the development of electronic skin (e-skin) like sensors (piezoresistive pressure sensors and resistive temperature sensors) for different applications, from health monitoring to robotics and functional prosthesis, resorting to novel fabrication techniques based on laser engraving. She also explored energy harvesters based on composites of a polymeric matrix and piezoelectric nanostructures, micro-structured through laser engraving for an enhancement of piezoelectric and triboelectric output.
