My name is Kleyde Ramos, I have a degree in Biomedical Sciences from Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI) and a master’s degree in Biochemistry from the NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT). In my dissertation project, I developed the theme "Development of wound healing biomaterials based on bacterial exopolysaccharides", and the results were published in the scientific article entitled "Bioactive exopolysaccharide-composites based on gold and silver nanoparticles tailored for wound healing" (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.mtcomm.2023.105351). As soon as I completed my master’s degree, I started working as a research assistant at the Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit (UCIBIO ), more precisely in the Biochemical Engineering Group (BIOENG), at NOVA FCT, at the PROMICON project, where the main objective was to test the ability of bacteria from different habitats in the synthesis of EPS rich in rare sugar monomers. Part of the results were presented in a flash presentation and poster format at the 14th International Meeting of the Portuguese Carbohydrate Group - GLUPOR 14. I would also like to point out that while I was integrated into this project I co-supervised a student during the development of her degree project. I recently integrated the Be@t project in the same research unit and in the same group, mentioned above, where the objectives are the recovery of lignocellulosic residues in biopolymers for textile applications, for which my main contribution is conducting trials of bioreactor cultivation, extraction, and characterization of biopolymers. I recently contributed to the writing of a chapter entitled "Wound healing approaches based on polysaccharides-nanoparticles biocomposites" which is part of the book entitled "Recent advances in nanomedicines mediated wound healing" accepted for publication and will be published soon by the international publisher (Elsevier, Academic Press). As for my strengths, I consider myself a person with critical thinking ability, ability to work as a team and my ability to deal with possible adversities, outlining strategies to solve them.
