Rita Daniela Santos Matos. In 2014, I obtained an MSc degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, after a BSc in Biochemistry, both from University of Porto. In 2016, I joined the Glycobiology in Cancer Group at i3S, where I have been the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team focused on the role of glycans on multiple pathological conditions, such as gastrointestinal cancer and infectious diseases (M. tuberculosis. In 2017, I started my PhD studies (Pathology and Molecular Genetics Doctoral Programme, University of Porto) under a collaboration with Ghent University, Belgium. During my international PhD studies, I characterized the adhesion and pathogenicity mechanisms of gastric non-Helicobacter pylori Helicobacter (NHPH) species to adhere to the human gastric mucosa. I demonstrated for the first time the in vitro adhesion of these bacteria to human gastric tissues. I was also focused on the acquisition of antibiotic resistance and efficacy of current Helicobacter eradication treatment. I have a solid publication track record with a total of 14 publications on international indexed journals (7 as first author).
