Filipe Monteiro is a neurodevelopmental biologist. He graduated in Biology at University of Aveiro in 2000 and concluded his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at University of Porto in 2006. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, and a researcher in the Pain Neurobiology group at i3S Research Institute, University of Porto. At the teaching level, Filipe Monteiro has been and teaching courses related to Cell and Molecular Biology and entry-level bioinformatics. He is continuously participating in learning innovation courses and is a member of the follow-up commission of MSc in Neurobiology (since 2017). He is responsible for post-graduation course Molecular Bioinformatics, Hands-on Course (2 ECTS, ongoing since 2017), and participates as faculty member in the Essential Molecular Biology course (6 ECTS, ongoing since 2012). At the research level, he has co-authored 11 papers in peer-reviewed journals (WoS indexed), H-index of 7 and 171 citations, with average journal index factor above 4 (73% of them is in the first JIF quartile). He supervised 1 PhD thesis, 9 MSc thesis, and 8 BSc thesis. He was enrolled in 6 FCT funded projects as team member and 3 project awards as principal investigator.
