My academic background lies in Mathematics, Probabilities and Statistics areas. I have a bachelor¿s degree in Mathematics (Teaching) (2006), a Master of Science in Mathematics Education (2008), and a Ph.D. in Science, specializing in Mathematics (2015) from Minho University. In 2009, I joined the School of Technology and Management, as an Assistant Professor progressing to Adjunct (Associate) Professor in 2017. During my academic and scientific career, I have focused on developing statistical methods applied to different fields such as health and economics, with greater emphasis on the first. I deal, particularly with joint models of longitudinal/panel data and time-to-event processes (survival models). Furthermore, my research also involves dynamic panel models and, more recently, the study of machine learning models for both longitudinal and survival data. Over the years I have been accumulating several management positions within the academia, most of them related to the management of teams. My previous positions as sub-director of the Bachelor in Business Sciences and member of the committee creation of the Industry Business School of ESTG.IPP, have contributed to the professional development of many professionals. Currently, I coordinate the Department of Exact and Natural Sciences at ESTG.IPP. Additionally, I am the sub-director of the Centre for Innovation and Research in Business Sciences and Information Systems, where I have the opportunity to directly impact the career development of the research team. Additionally, I was supervisor of 17 MSc (with 4 ongoing). In addition, I have also been involved in external examination boards of 1 PhD and 9 MSc. I have contributed to the scientific community in many ways: · Member of the scientific committee of more than 10 international conferences and 1 national conference; Chair of several sessions at international scientific events; · My scientific production · Member of journals¿ Editorial Boards and Reviewer for many more; · Participation in national and international projects, funded by institutions of a diverse nature; · Very active in Erasmus mobilities across Europe; In what relates to my contribution to society, I have provided 6 consultancy services to companies in the health sector, and 7 knowledge transfer services, including participation in consultancy and knowledge transfer initiatives for industry (companies that propose a challenge to be solved by mathematical researchers), such as the European Study Groups With Industry (https://ecmiindmath.org/study-groups/) and the Innovation Bootcamp promoted by ANI (National Innovation Agency) (https://tinyurl.com/yzyzk9p5). These initiatives are important because they strengthen the link between academia and industry by promoting the creation of protocols and partnerships. During my academic career, I have contributed to scientific production in many ways: · 13 papers published in international scientific journals; · 9 book chapters · More than 30 presentations at international scientific conferences. I have obtained 10 scientific awards, of which I highlight the 2021 ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineering) Commendation for Publishing Reproducible Results which highlights my contribution and commitment to the production of open science.
