Simão P. B. Teixeira graduated in Bioengineering - Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Porto in 2017. In January 2024, he obtained his Doctor (PhD) degree in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells awarded by the University of Minho with the maximum grade, with the thesis entitled ¿Molecular Imprinting Technologies for Growth Factor Sequestration and Control of Stem Cell Fate in Tendon Regeneration¿. The PhD project was conducted at 3B¿s Research Group, I3Bs ¿ University of Minho, under the supervision of Professor Manuela E. Gomes and Dr. Rui M. A. Domingues. During this time, he had the opportunity to be a visiting researcher at University College London (Eastman Dental Institute) and ETH Zurich (Institute for Biomechanics), two of the most prestigious European universities. In the latter, he worked at Balgrist Campus under Prof. Jess G. Snedeker, in a collaborative project focusing on tendon mechanotransduction. He has been involved in several international projects, like the ERC Consolidator Grant MagTendon or Twinning project Achilles, awarded to Prof. Manuela E. Gomes, as well as national ones such as SmarTendon and Wi-Pi, awarded to Dr. Rui M. A. Domingues in international collaborations. Simão served as student representative of I3Bs in the University of Minho Doctoral College for 2 years. He also participated in the organization of 3 national conferences and 1 workshop, under the Achilles project, as well as the 31st Annual Meeting of the European Orthopaedic Research Society (EORS 2023) in Porto, Portugal. His early career has thus far yielded 5 published papers (4 as first author) in high impact journals like Advanced Functional Materials or Science Advances, with a current total of 135 citations, with another in submission, 1 patent application, 4 oral presentations at international conferences and 2 at national conferences, including an award for Best Rapid-Fire Presentation (2nd Achilles Conference, 2019), along with 6 poster presentations.
