Maria Julia Vieira is currently a PhD student in New Media at the University of Aveiro, with an FCT PhD scholarship. She has a degree in social communication - journalism from the Catholic University of Pernambuco (Brazil - 2016), a specialization in Digital Marketing Strategy from Edit. Disruptive Digital Education (2018), Master's in Communication, Networks and Technologies from the Lusófona University of Porto (2021), her doctoral thesis researches the inclusion of women in live streaming videogames. She began her academic career in Brazil and is currently carrying out research based on the ´Women in games´ tag. She is interested in the scientific areas of communication sciences research, including: female representation and inclusion in the videogames industry; gender equality; women in games; convergence culture, participatory culture and transmedia narrative.
