I finished my MSc degree on Biochemistry, at the University of Aveiro, in 2017, after completing the BSc on Biomedical Sciences from the same University, 2015. During these academic years, I had the opportunity to join Amgen Foundation summer research program, at Institute Pasteur, which resulted in one poster publication at Amgen Cambridge Symposium, as international conference (2015). For my thesis project, I decided to join the Cell Biology laboratory (CNC, University of Coimbra) to develop a project focused on the optimization of chondrogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) using PDMS substrates under the supervision of Dr. Mário Grãos. To diversify my research experience, I tried different research fields to learn new techniques. Therefore, I joined ‘Functional Genomics and RNA-based Therapeutics’ laboratory at CNC, where I performed small-scale screenings using microRNAs and siRNAs on different cell lines using high-content microscopy, to study host-pathogen interactions. These project lead to a methodological article, where I am one of the authors. Currently, I am a research fellow at Life Sciences Mass Spectrometry Lab, at CNC. I am part of a project that aims to identify molecules that can be used to diagnose hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, a neonatal brain injury disease that has no diagnostic or an effective therapeutic available.
