Salomé Honório (n. "Daniel Lourenço") is a researcher and writer based in Lisbon, Portugal. They hold a PhD in Literary and Cultural Studies by the School of Arts of Humanities of the University of Lisbon, with a specialization in Comparative Studies (summa cum laude) and an MA in Sexual Dissidence in Literature and Culture from the School of English of the University of Sussex (with Distinction). Their academic background lies primarily in comparative studies, literary and cultural studies, and queer studies/queer theory. They are especially interested in experimental writing (across literature and theory); the politics of cultural and artistic representation (especially as perceived through the categories of race, gender, and sexuality); the critique of hegemonic economies of representation from so-called minoritarian standpoints of disidentification and dissensus, and the constitution of alternate politicaland epistemological frameworks that work to historicize and problematize the modern-colonial paradigm, as it is continuously rearticulated through late capitalism and neoliberalism, (neo-)colonialism and extrativism, and cissexist and heterossexist principles of social organization. Their research praxis is deeply indebted to queer theory, trans studies, feminism, and critical race theory - as well as their interdisciplinary and intersectional co-articulation, as concomitant modes of critical action. As a postdoctoral researcher, they are part of project "UrbanoScenes: Post-colonial Imaginaries of Urbanisation: A Future-Oriented Perspective from Portugal and Angola", an FCT-funded project based at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon. Their present research focuses on the potentialities of speculative fiction as a variable means of mediating the relationship betwen past, present, and future; the ongoing inscription of a colonialist and imperialist imaginary in Portuguese urbal space, along with the critical and artistic interventions that disrupt this dominant economy of representation, and the methodological and epistemological ramifications of an interface between critical urban studies and the more speculative dimensions of contemporary queer theory. Further research interests include experimental writing across both creative and critical contexts, with a particular emphasis on the conceptual and creative efficacy of autofiction and autotheory; the problematization of "whiteness", both as a system of meaning and as a socio-political positionality; the interrogation of "visibility" as a normalized imperative within trans politics and mainstream political discourse on gender and sexual minorities; critical genealogies of "queer" discursivities across non-anglophone contexts, as effected from a transnational and decolonial perspective, and the radical ethical and speculative possibilities of experimental poetics, across different disciplinary contexts and forms of collective action. Their English-language poetry has been featured on platforms and publications such as ZARF!, Amberflora, Futch Press, the Earthbound Poetry Series, Them All, and Smoke & Mold. They are the author of two poetry pamphlets: "Lábio/Abril" (Traveller and Presente: Lisbon, 2015) and "fox, closet & fist (winter olympics, Brighton, 2017 (1st edition); Face Press, Cambridge, 2024 (2nd edition). They are currently preparing a new volume of Portuguese-language poetry, provisionally titled "Raposina".
