Since October 2024, Telmo Mota Leal has been a PhD Student at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry (University of Coimbra), and a master´s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology (University of Coimbra). He is very interested in the fields of Neuroscience and Molecular Biology, with a particular interest on interactions between synaptic proteins. Currently, Telmo is studying a newly found mechanism that regulates neuronal excitability. His work has been presented in national and international conferences in the form of 2 scientific posters and 1 oral communication. He has been selected to participate in 3 internships during his academic career and received 2 scholarships from Fundação da Ciência e Tecnologia and from Fundació la Marató de TV3. Telmo is the co-author of a scientific publication to be released later in the year of 2024. He has also participated in 3 national conferences and is an avid enthusiast of science communication, being a member from 2021 to 2023 of a Junior Enterprise directed to transmitting science to high school students. During this time there, he also organized 2 scientific communication events destined to high schools students. Telmo is a highly capable scientist that aims his work to gathering new evidence on how neuronal excitability can be regulated in terms of disease.
