João Pedro Bebiano e Costa is currently Innovation and Technology Transfer Manager | Invited Assistant Professor | Scientific Researcher at CBQF, University Católica of Porto, where he is responsible to build bridges between Industry and Academia (Biotechnology) and define roadmaps for knowledge valorization and technology transfer. In 2022, he was awarded with a contract through the Scientific Employment Stimulation Contest – Individual to develop his own research project related with biofabrication of orthopedic laboratory-generated tissues. Previously, He also worked as R&D manager, business and project developer at TECH4MED, where he applied scientific and business tools to develop innovative technologies and bring products to the market. His background includes an MSc in Bioengineering at Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, which he finished in 2015. In that same year, João was awarded with a PhD scholarship and enrolled in the PhD program in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells. In 2019, he concluded his PhD degree at i3Bs Research Group, University of Minho with the highest qualitative grade. In addition, he also got a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Hospital Administration and Healthcare Management from Nebrija University/IMF Business School, Manzanares/Madrid, Spain, in 2022. He is an articulate, passionate, and innovative Research Scientist, capable of offering an impressive record of achievement in the areas of Research & Development, Engineering, Biomedical and Biotech, and Healthcare fields. In his previous and current roles, his primary focus has been and is on utilizing and improving protocols, procedures, and techniques to generate novel products, executing new and existing methods, designing cutting-edge investigations, and creating manuscripts that focus on a wide variety of scientific challenges within the bioengineering and Biotech fields. With those areas, in conjunction with his expertise in product and project management, laboratory protocols, and scientific writing, he possess a robust career history in building and sustaining mutually beneficial scientific relationships, managing scientific operations, and collaborating with industry leaders to acquire information related to product manufacturing and development, within clinical and research environments, as per best industry practices, standards, and industry trends. Over the course of his career, he established a track record of success by leveraging a cooperative leadership and teamwork style to accomplish all short- and long-term research and scientific objectives. Also, as a highly motivated and articulate communicator, he is able to manage, engage, coach, and inspire various undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral level students, clearly convey fundamental information to guarantee comprehension of material through modernized techniques and exciting activities, and present detailed findings and interpretations during presentations. Furthermore, he is known and respected by my fellow peers for his high research expertise, outstanding scientific background, and exceptional strategic capabilities. To this current date, he has successfully published 20+ peer-reviewed papers/book chapters as well as invented and co-invented 3 international patent applications.
