MP presented her research in more than 90 national and international conferences (Turkey, USA, China, Israel, France, Austria, Germany, and Spain) with more than 30 oral presentations and more than 60 posters. MP research involves an interdisciplinary approach, combining the synthesis of novel drug delivery systems of anti-infectious and anti-cancer drugs to increase the therapeutic index of the drugs and improve the treatment of infectious diseases (TB, COVID-19, toxoplasmosis, HIV, malaria). MP is involved in several projects (>11), and has been in collaboration with dozens of national and international research groups. From 2018-2022, MP was a Principal Investigator in the Nano-TB project. MP is also a Management Committee Member of Cost Action CA18233 and a Member of the Cost Action ADVANCE-TB (CA21164) and CA18233. MP did several scientific internships, at the Max Planck Institute Berlin, the University of Cordoba Spain, King's College London, and Adolphe Merkel Institute Switzerland, among others. For the last 5 years, MP supervised 11 BSc, 2 MSc, 3 PhD, and 1 Postdoctoral researcher. MP is also a member of post-graduation juries, including a Doctorate jury. Since 2019, MP is also a supervisor member of the International Doctoral Programme in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology Applied to Health Sciences. MP also serves as Academic Editor in several journals, including Plos One, Frontiers, Acta Médica Portuguesa, Cancers,, and has been active in the communication of science to the population, being a Member of the Communication group of the Portuguese Public Health Medical Association since 2022. MP has been a Consultant for the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia and for the Lithuanian Research Council since 2021. Since 2023, MP has been an Expert in Mission HADEA (HORIZON) of the European Commission in Brussels, being also an Expert in the ERA4Health call. In 2024, MP was appointed a Technical Advisor of the Word Health Organization (WHO) in the Division of UHC/Healthier Populations.
