Daniela Firmino graduated in Biochemistry (UTAD, Portugal, 2006), got a Master's degree in Medicinal Chemistry (UMinho, Portugal, 2011) and was awarded a Ph.D. grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) to do a Ph.D. in Chemistry (UA, Portugal, 2017). She acquired and developed research skills as a synthetic chemist throughout her university studies, has many interdisciplinary interests (organic chemistry, hybrid materials chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biomaterials chemistry, chemical analyses and characterization techniques) and is always eager to learn about new subjects. During her doctoral thesis she designed and synthesized new multifunctional porous hybrid materials, namely metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). After her Ph.D. she continued to develop her work on MOFs at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST - University of Lisbon, Portugal). Daniela already studied and developed research skills in 4 different portuguese universities. She returned from Lisbon to Aveiro to be a Junior Researcher at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials and her main research interest was the synthesis and engineering of magnetically responsive nanomaterials for biological applications under the supervision of 2019 ERC Consolidator grantee Nuno Silva. In 2022 Daniela worked at Associação BLC3 - Campus de Tecnologia e Inovação, her first experience working in a company. Recently she also worked for another company, Casa do Crespo, integrating the Quality Control team (2023). Daniela has 12 published articles in peer-reviewed journals, 3 proceedings, 1 book chapter and 1 master's dissertation co-supervision. She has contributed with +15 oral and poster communications in national and international conferences and meetings and already interacted with a lot of researchers and research groups throughout her professional activities.
