Enthusiastic about sustainable cities, always seeking innovative solutions to improve the liveability and efficiency of outdoor public spaces. In a dual role as a lecturer at the Polytechnic Institute of Maia and a doctoral researcher in the MIT Portugal program, the focus is on exploring strategies that combine sustainable construction solutions with traditional building practices. Research centres on the design and rehabilitation of outdoor public spaces, such as squares, streets, and parks, where community engagement and environmental care are key priorities. Comprehensive assessments of various construction solutions for these spaces are conducted, evaluating their efficiency, sustainability, and compatibility with local heritage. This involves analysing current practices, assessing the impact of sustainable technologies, and identifying best practices to enhance functionality and aesthetic appeal while respecting historical and cultural contexts. The aim is to propose a framework that guides future projects in creating resilient and engaging public areas that effectively serve the community. Research interests include urban design, sustainable construction solutions, and spatial planning. Throughout the career, several articles have been published and participation in conferences has helped to share research findings and stimulate discussion about the future of cities.
