Beatriz Bento

Beatriz Bento. Completed the Integrated Master in Chemical Engineering in 2016 by Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa. Due to her exceptional performance he has received 3 Academic Honorary Degrees, 1 Academic Excellence Degree and a Merit Grant. Her work on her Master Thesis untitled "Mercury methylation rates in Deception Island (Antarctica) waters and pyroclastic gravel impacted by volcanic-mercury" has resulted in a article in Marine Pollution Bulletin (doi:10.1016/j.marpolbul.2021.112023.), 2 conference abstracts and one oral presentation at conferences. In 2018 she was a Research Fellow at C2TN under the project REEuse. In 2024 she completed her PhD with the dissertation "Assessing Mercury and Methylmercury levels in the Wabigoon River with special attention on mercury methylation" under the supervision of Dr. Holger Hintelmann. This project resulted in two posters and five oral presentations in international conferences and an article in Science of The Total Environment untitled "Assessment of mercury methylation and methylmercury demethylation potentials in water and sediments along the Wabigoon River system". Currently she is a researcher at CERENA/FEUP, where she conducts research in the area of Mining Engineering and supports Science and Technology management activities. Her research mainly focuses on Chemistry with emphasis on Analytical Chemistry, Geochemistry and Environmental Chemistry. In her professional activities she has already interacted with more than 18 collaborators.
