Rui Colaço is a researcher at CERIS, coming from a PhD in Territorial Engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the Universidade de Lisboa. Before, he worked for several years in the private and public sectors as an engineer and urban planner. His background is also in Territorial Engineering at the IST. Since Fall 2022, he is also a Fulbrighter (4-month stay at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB)). His research is presently located at the intersection between urban and transportation planning, focusing on ICT impacts on travel and land-use, and on accessibility and its implications for land use planning, urban development and sustainability. Having been funded by Fundação para a Ciência and Tecnologia (FCT) through a PhD studentship between October 2018 and February 2023, he’s now a member of the team working on the REMOBIL research project, while also collaborating with the international team working in the "Relações entre Teletrabalho, Escolhas Residenciais, E-Commerce e Comportamentos de Viagens" project and leading the C3GEO project (a CERIS "seed" project).
