Bárbara Matos holds a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology (2016) and a master's degree in Biochemistry (Clinical Biochemistry) (2018) at University of Aveiro, PT. She developed her master thesis entitled “Exploring the preventive effect of physical activity on prostate cancer-induced testicular dysfunction” at Institute of Biomedicine (iBiMED) under the supervision of Prof. Margarida Fardilha and Prof. Rita Ferreira. Recently, she completed her PhD in Biomedicine (2024) in University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. Margarida Fardilha, Prof. John Howl and Prof. Carmen Jeronimo. Her PhD project aimed to develop peptides to disrupt key protein-protein interactions for prostate carcinogenesis, based on well-known PP1 complexes, with the ultimate objective to impair PCa progression. Currently, she is a junior researcher in Molecular Biomaterials group at Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em saúde (i3S), University of Porto, Portugal, where she focuses on developing innovative biomaterials based on self-assembling peptides for targeted drug delivery in prostate cancer.
