My name is Beatriz Pereira and I completed the Master's degree in Medicinal Chemistry in 2023 from the University of Coimbra, with a final grade of 17, and the Degree in Chemistry in 2021 from the University of Minho, with a final grade of 17. I am currently a researcher at the University of Minho in the project "Synthesis of new five/six-membered nitrogen-based compounds" since April 2024. I published an article in RSC Medicinal Chemistry entitled "Chiral hydroxymethyl-1H,3H-pyrrolo [1,2 -c] thiazoles: the search for selective p53-activating agents for colorectal cancer therapy". In 2022 I obtained a scholarship as a Scientific Initiation Fellow, with the title "Development of Fluorescence Imaging Agents for in vitro Detection and Visualization of Multiple Subcellular Entities." I presented two posters at two different conferences, at the University of Coimbra and in Vila Real (PYCheM 2023), both on the topic of my thesis (Synthesis of New Chiral 6,7-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-1H,3H-Pyrrolo[1,2-C]thiazoles Derivatives as Activators of the p53 Protein for the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer). Since April this year, I have guided 3 undergraduate students with their projects, such as the "Synthesis of potential selective PI3K inhibitors for the treatment of colorectal cancer" and the "Synthesis of new compounds with anti-leishmaniasis activity with increased solubility." My areas of expertise are Chemical Sciences, with an emphasis on Medicinal Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.
