I completed my Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. I was awarded three research grants for the projects Cork-a-Tex, Cork.a.Tex-Yarn, and TexBoost. The Cork_a_Tex and Cork.a.Tex-Yarn projects stood out by receiving the INOVATÊXTIL 2015 and Techtextil Innovation 2019 awards. Additionally, the Cork.a.Tex-Yarn project resulted in two patents, one national (109121) and one international (WO 2017/130170 A1), while the TexBoost project led to a national patent (PT 117219). Simultaneously, I was voluntarily involved in various scientific initiatives, including the development and characterization of carbon-coated magnetic nanoparticles for catalytic applications; the use of carbon nanotubes as catalysts for the oxidative desulfurization of a model oil composed of sulfur compounds present in fuels; and the use of carbon-coated magnetic nanoparticles for bromate removal in water. Throughout these years, I also had the opportunity to support students in the laboratory, contributing to their technical and scientific development. In July 2022, I supervised a student during their internship in the Chemical Engineering Project (PEQ), on the topic "Development of carbon catalysts for nitric oxide reduction." In March 2020, I was awarded a doctoral scholarship funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), entitled "Selective reduction of nitric oxide (NOx) over carbon-based catalysts," and I completed my PhD on December 18, 2024. Since May 2024, I have been part of the BE@T project – Bioeconomy for Textiles and Clothing, which aims to develop sustainable and bio-based materials using renewable resources such as agro-industrial waste and alternative natural fibres. This work focuses on creating traceable, high-performance products by integrating advanced technologies and sustainable production processes.
