Júlia Niemeyer is full professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil, since 2013. She finished a PhD in Biology (specialization in Ecology) at the University of Coimbra in 2013, developing a thesis in Ecological Risk Assessment of a metal contaminated site in Brazil, using the Triad approach (chemical, ecotoxicological and ecological lines of evidence). She has been involved in projects involving soil ecotoxicology, evaluation of contaminated sites, ecotoxicity of residues, bioreactors (biobeds) for pesticides degradation, and soil biology. She coordinates the disciplines General Ecology, Soil Biology and Ecotoxicology (for undergraduate courses of Agronomy, Forest Engineer and Veterinary); Environmental Monitoring, Ecosystem Ecology (Master Course of Agricultural and Natural Ecosystems) in the Centre of Rural Sciences, UFSC. Currently, she is co-responsible for two projects financed by Petrobras (Brazilian Petroleum Corporation), one involving ecological risk assessment, and other involving reuse of residues from oil field exploitation, ongoing until 2022. She has supervised and co-supervised MSc thesis (11), Scientific Initiation and Monographies (35), and co-supervised PhD thesis (2). She published 33 papers in peer review journals (11 as first author, 8 as supervisor), 15 books chapters, and had your results communicated in 130 abstracts in national and international scientific meetings, with 295 citations and H-index 11 (Publons, March 2021). She has collaborated with International Scientific Journals, being Associated Editor of the Ecotoxicology Journal; Review Editor of the Frontiers in Environmental Sciences; beside had reviewed papers for more than 20 scientific journals in her career. She was invited for more than 70 juries among PhD thesis, MSc thesis, and monographies, besides projects evaluation for funding agencies. She coordinated science exhibition actions in her University (ex. FAO - World Soil Day) and with public schools in Brazil (Project the Soil Secret Life). She has been involved in technical services as consulting for Brazilian public agencies (Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources ¿ IBAMA; Environmental Company of São Paulo State - CETESB). She was recognized as a Productive Researcher by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in 2021, receiving the fellowship of research productivity (PQ-level 2).
