I am a public health researcher with a particular interest in studying the impact of adverse events on individuals' health, quality of life and well-being as well as the interplay of resilience factors, using an interdisciplinary and mixed methods approach. In 2018, I finished a PhD in Global Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, with a grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (PD/BD/105830/2014). I have a BSc in Psychology (2008) and a Master in Clinical and Health Psychology (2010) from the Portuguese Catholic University. I am currently the Co-PI and junior researcher in the Project "UNFOLD - In the shadow of violence: a life-course approach to unfold the scars on the body and mind over childhood and adolescence" (2022.06837.PTDC) at the Institute of Public Health, University of Porto. I have been involved in several national and international research and community-based projects in the field of social adversities and health inequities, with competitive funding. I am supervising and co-supervising Ph.D. and Master theses (Public Health, Health Education and Educational Sciences). I have published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and abstracts in conference proceedings totalizing 692 citations. I am Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Univeristy of Porto and I was organizer and lecturer of the three editions of the short-course "Mixed methods in health research" at the ISPUP. Moreover, I won the 2020 ISQOLS Best Dissertation First Place Award as well as several international competitive grants for deepening my scientific and methodological skills.
