Sofia Meirinho received a degree in Biotechnology Engineering (2004 from the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineiring (2016) from University of Minho. Since July 2019, she is a Junior Research at the University of Minho - Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS). She works in the areas of Engineering and Technology, and Biomedical Sciences with emphasis on genetic sensors-based high-throughput screening platform for antimalarial development. Her research interests are mainly in biomedical applications; malaria diagnostic tools; antimalarial drugs; Biosensors; electrochemical biosensors; nanomaterials. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sofia Meirinho is a volunteer in the diagnostic service provided by University of Minho to the community.
