During the last couple of years, my domain of specialization has been focusing on the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure (HF), pulmonary hypertension and ageing associated cardiovascular diseases. After completing my degree in Microbiology in the Portuguese Catholic University, I started my career in cardiovascular research at the Department of Surgery and Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, with a traineeship as part of my Master Degree in Molecular Genetics in the University of Minho, concluded in 2011. My interest for the cardiovascular sciences world prompted me to apply to the Master's degree in Cardiovascular Pathophysiology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, concluded in 2013. Since then, I have continued my research in the heart area as a research fellow at the Department of Surgery and Physiology of the University of Porto. During the past years I have improved my knowledge in the cardiovascular field and my interest in understanding the role of ageing pathways in cardiovascular disease increased, namely regarding HFpEF. Currently, I am a PhD student (Doctoral Program on Cardiovascular Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto) and my research project is focused on the ageing cardiovascular field.
