I have been conducting research to understand the community ecology and conservation of large mammals in altered ecosystems, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. Namely, my research focuses on revealing the extant mammal community composition and structure in remote areas that suffered armed conflicts and where scientific research has been very scarce in the last decades, such is Angola. I also aim to understand the consequences of the simplification and depletion of such mammal communities in the functioning of the ecosystem, for instance, the role of reduced herbivory in the change of fire regimes and the effect of reduced predation pressure on predator-prey dynamics.
