Beatriz P. Nobre graduated in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa . After graduation, she worked for 1 year in the industry as chemical engineer (quality control laboratory) in a welding processes and equipment¿s company. Later, B. P. Nobre wan a PhD grant (FTC , Portugal) with a project in the area of Chemical Engineering. She got her PhD (2007) at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon University. Her research was focus in phase equilibrium with supercritical fluids, particularly solubility measurements of carotenoids in supercritical fluids. Afterwards, in order to improve her scientific knowledge and diverse her background, B. P. Nobre was granted a Post-Doctoral grant (FCT, Portugal) in the field of biotechnology to carry out research in the area of bioenergy and biorefineries at the Bioenergy Unit of LNEG (Portugal). Her research studies concerned the use of green solvents and processes (e.g supercritical fluids, pressurized liquids) for microalga biomass downstream processing in a biorefinery concept. She also worked in life cycle analysis for microalgae feedstock biorefineries. In 2015 B. P. Nobre moved to CQE (Lisbon University), with a post-doctoral grant (FCT, Portugal) to work in the field of particle engineering using supercritical processes. Her research focused in the use of green techniques to design nanoparticles of pharmaceutical ingredients, bioactive compounds, catalysts and nanomaterials for CO2 capture. Currently, B. P. Nobre is a researcher at CQE (Lisbon University) working in the use of green solvents (e.g. supercritical fluids, pressurized liquids, biobased solvents) for: - extraction and fractionation of bioactives from microorganisms (microalgae, yeast and bacteria), wastes and non-edible plant materials, within a biorefinery context. - particle design of nano and microparticles (pharmaceutical ingredients, bioactive compounds, catalysts and other materials); - heterogeneous catalytic reactions. Over the last 10 years she participated in three national funding projects as research team member and in a Cost Action. During this period she also submitted several proposals for attracting funding in national and international calls. Although these were evaluated as excellent they did not reach the level to be proposed for funding. B. P. Nobre is currently supervising 4 MSc student, and she has completed the supervision of 2 PhD, 9 MSc students, 1 Erasmus student and 4 research fellow. B. P. Nobre interrupted her scientific activity three times (2005, 2009 and 2019) due to maternity leave. Finally, during her scientific career, she published 35 original research articles, reviews and book chapters with a total of more than 1940 citations (h-index 18, scopus), besides more than 35 presentations in international conferences with invited lectures, oral communications and poster presentations.
